The Sidecar Spectacular took place at the Peterborough Show Ground, home of the Peterborough Panthers on Saturday 23 August and produced some superb action.

After eighteen heats Gareth Winterburn & Liam Brown led the way having dropped just the single point to Paul Whitelam & Keiran Ivy in heat six. Whitelam & Ivy lay second and third were Robbie Wilson & Bradley Steer. Going in the Final in fourth was Gareth Winterburn’s cousin Tris Winterburn with passenger Sam Fumarola. Overall heat winners were Gaz Winterburn with five, Paul Whitelam four, Tris Winterburn, Robbie Wilson and Mark Cossar all with two and one each for Will Offen & Nicky Owen and Shaun Harvey & Danny Hogg.

The major surprise of the night was Track Racing & British Speedway Champion Mark Cossar failed to make the Final. He blew an engine in his first heat and ran a last in his second heat. From the second heat onwards Mark borrowed his brothers’ bike which had been being used by his dad Andy. Despite all his efforts he just could not pull back from such a disastrous start.

Whitelam & Ivy led the final only to finish second after Winterburn & Brown came by to take the win. Winterburn & Fumarola took third and Wilson & Steer took the final spot of the night.
